A common question I get from plumbers is: “How many pages should my website have?”
The answer is simpler than most people think.
You don’t need 50 pages. You also don’t need a blog with hundreds of articles (even though blogging is good for your website if you have time & resources for it).
For most local plumbing businesses, a solid website should have around 7–10 pages.
Here at PlumbingWebDesign.com we recommend this structure:
1. Homepage (Most Important Page)
Your homepage is often the first thing potential customers see.
Its job is simple:
- Explain what you do
- Show where you work
- Build trust
- Get visitors to call you
A good homepage should include your phone number, reviews, service areas, and clear call-to-action buttons. Here is a checklist list of 10 things your plumbing website should have.
Think of it as your digital salesperson.
2. Contact Page
This page should make it incredibly easy for people to reach you.
Don’t forget to include:
- Phone number
- Contact form
- Service area information
- Business hours
Many plumbers underestimate how important this page is. If someone wants to contact you, don’t make them hunt for your details.
3. Service Pages (At Least 4)
This is where many plumbing websites fall short.
Instead of putting every service on one page, create separate pages for your major services.
For example:
- Emergency Plumbing
- Drain Cleaning
- Water Heater Repair
- Leak Detection
Why?
Because people don’t search for “plumber.”
They search for specific problems.
Someone with a blocked drain might search:
“drain cleaning near me”
Someone with a broken water heater might search:
“water heater repair in [city]”
Dedicated service pages give Google a better understanding of what you offer and increase your chances of ranking for these long-tail keywords.
More relevant pages often means more opportunities to appear in local search results.
4. About Us Page
People hire people.
Your About page helps visitors understand who they’re inviting into their home.
Include:
- Your story
- Team photos
- Years of experience
- Certifications or licenses
- Service values
This page builds trust and helps you stand out from competitors who look generic.
That’s Really Enough to Start
If you’re a local plumbing company, these pages alone can create a strong foundation:
- Homepage
- Contact Page
- About Us Page
- 4+ Service Pages
That’s usually 7–10 pages total.
Once those pages are built properly, you can expand with service area pages, FAQs, and blog content.
But before adding more pages, make sure the core pages are done right.
A small website with strong pages will outperform a large website filled with thin content every time.
If you are hesitant to create a website, here are 5 reasons why every plumber needs a website.
